Book has been submitted for printing
16 JUNE
IT'S DONE!!!!
As what I thought would be a 2-week project stretched into 4 months, I despaired of ever finishing the book. Among the obstacles: about 4 times as much content as I had expected, a hard drive meltdown and a Blurb software "upgrade" that caused crashes every 4 or 5 minutes and many calls to customer support.
But all that is water under the bridge. The tribute book has been ordered, and it will take ten days to two weeks for printing.
Sorry for the delays!

Scooter Tribute
UPDATES:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Sign on with username: scootertribute@gmail.com and pw: scooter2009
Once you log in, you should be on the Dashboard. Click the blue NEW POST button to add your tribute. Or, from the blog, click the "New Post" link in the top right. Please DO NOT ADD YOUR TRIBUTE TO THE COMMENTS FIELD of this post.
THE PROJECT: I'm creating a tribute book for Scooter's family and I would like YOU to write it. I'm setting it up in blog format, because I will use Blurb.com to create the book, and they have software that enables you to import blog content into their book templates. The books they produce are spectacular. It is a real "coffee table" quality book on heavy paper, with a dustjacket. (Shutterfly also produces nice memory books, but does not offer the ability to import content in the same manner as Blurb.)
FORMAT: Anything you like, but TEXT and PHOTOS only (no videos, audio files, or animated gifs). Please include links for your Catster ID and/or blog address in your entry. This will make it possible for me to contact you with questions/problems, and will make sure Scooter's family knows who you are.
PHOTOS: Please upload high resolution images. It will resize them smaller for the display on the blog, but will retain the high-res version for import into the book template. Small images will display the size of postage stamps in book format. If you only have small photos, that's fine, but high res print better. High res is in the neighborhood of 1600 pixels wide or higher. Bigger is better. Much better.
I would like to get at least 50 cats to pawticipate. If we have fewer than 20 entries, it may not make sense to do this project, so please tell everyone you know who knew and loved Scooter about this project.
DEADLINE: March 1st 2009. You can continue to edit your post until the deadline.
PROBLEMS? Send me a pmale on Catster.
- 29 MARCH: I had hoped to be done before the end of March, but am not quite going to make it... we had about double the participation that I'd expected. So I won't be done for another week or so.
- I've started production of the book. It should take a week or two. If you are late submitting your tribute, go ahead and post it below.

Happy Trails, Scooter...

Scooter joined us on Catster.com on May 1, 2005, and went on to become of our most popular members and regular contributors to date. 'Scootie Patootie' was a true friend to all the cats who contacted her, and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that other cats on the site always felt welcome and always had someone to meow to.
We were furtunate enough to have Skeezix interview Scooter on her 20th Birthday, an interview that was both humorous and insightful - a true milestone in the world of feline journalism. Scooter's tips on getting old and how to deal with the aging purrocess are bits of advice that apply to everyfur, four-legged and two-legged alike:
keep moving
stay curious
accept help when you need it
purr, purr, purrrr
&
enjoy each and every day with your family
Scooter, concatulations on living such a long and eventful life. And thanks for sharing so much with us and for doing SO MUCH to help Catster.com to become the #1 destination on the planet for cats and cat lovers. Catster exists because of wonderful cats like you.
You will be missed, my furiend...
