Tribute from Flicka, Lucas and Cleo

Scooter was my Pal in Pawsome Pages... her Mum was always there as steady as a rock to help out.

I am saddened that Scooter is now at the Bridge... BUT... she had the most wonderful loved and very long life.

Go chase sunbeams Scooter... we'll hold the fort a bit longer while you search out the warm corners.

With Love

Pam (the human), Flicka, Lucas and Cleo (In Memory)

Forever Hugs From Hannah

Dearest Scooter, I sat here, fussing to myself about what to write that hasn't been written so many times already, trying to find some original words to describe a truly original friend. But my thoughts are as fuzzy as my fur. All I can say is I miss you, and I loved you, and I hope you knew that all along. With forever hugs and purrs,
Hannah

Shall I Compare Scooter to an Endless Summer's Day?

Dear Scootie,
I am writing this in longhand, with a quill no less, because when I got to heaven they didn’t have broadband yet. I tell you, old age ain’t fur sissies. But you know that. That’s how we met, when I first came to Catster.

The other day I was rereading what was probably our very first email exchange. We were both in “For the Meezers” and you were secretly pmailing everyone in the group about Coconut’s 20th birthday!
“We have some kitties in the group with a few years on them, don't we?,” you wrote. “ I was 17 on Oct. 23, 2005. How did they discover you were 18 instead of 15? Did you feel any different after you found out? Do you think we should form a Geezer Meezer group? Heeheehee”

Well, that was the beginning, both of Olde Furts, and our friendship. Now eventually you became closer to Ray (wink wink) and you had to keep an eye on naughty Coco and pay some attention to your other suitor, Mouse. But we stayed in touch, keeping up on our aches and pains, our failing kidneys, skinny butts and food fetishes. And when I left, just a few days short of my 20th birthday, you and your Mom helped my Mom understand that she had done the very best for me she could.

And so, I wanted to dedicate a poem to you. I wrote it long ago, before I knew you, but I think it’s fitting.

When I in sated reverie am lost,
My belly girded with a rich repast,

I clean my fur and then, with claws, I floss,
And think of you, and all the charms thou hast.

Like Tender Vittles--nay, like chicken flesh!

Or better still like some forbidden fruit:

The Häagen -Dazs that makes my innards thresh

(And to perchance despoil my mistress’ boot)

But lest thou doubt my deep respect for thee--

And think my similes of food uncouth--
I swear before all of eternity
Thy beauty must be nourishèd by truth.

If music is the food of love, proceed!
I’ve had my fill of poetry--let’s eat.

Oh, and here's a picture of the card you sent me on my...let's see...19th birthday I think.

Thank you for being our introduction to Catster, and thank you for being our friend.

We all love you Scootie!

Baby

Scooter is my aunt and this makes me special. She may be aunts to others as well, but she is MY aunt!

For Our Dutchess

Scooter is a-zooooming
Down the hallway in a flash!
Perhaps she sees angel SooLing
Chasing pom poms at a dash!

Scooter's eyes are remarkable
They radiate so blue
But even more important
Is the kindness in their hue.

They portray a calmness
Certain, interior and rare
That Scooter, a true dutchess,
Takes upon herself to share.

Her beauty is ephemeral,
Unacquainted with Time,
It reaches beyond the corporeal
to be ever-honored by the wind bell's chime.

With eternal love, Elsa

Scooter, the Heart of Catster.

Scooter has also been a wonderful friend to our family. She was always there with words of encouragement when one of us was sick. She comforted us when our dear Flinders crossed the bridge. We will miss her but know she will always be the heart of Catster.

Shall we dance...

I loved to dance with you Scooter, such grace, such a lighthearted spirit. There are no words to tell of how much you are loved and always will be. Your heart was twice as big as Texas and so full of love and compassion for those who came to the old furts home. You greeted all and made effurryone feel right at home and were full of so much cheer one could never stay sad. You purred for my lil sisfur Biscuit as she went thru all her test and multitude of medicines, she really looked up to you as a great meezer she wants to be like. Our dream is to live the long and loved and cherished life lived to the fullest as you did. Godspeed sweet Scooter. You will always be with us..because you now live in our hearts...and watch over us from the bridge till time we meet again...save a dance for me.

Hugs, purrrs, and much love,

Tribute from Daisy and Cathy to Scooter

I met Scooter just before Valentine’s Day in 2006. I had been on Catster about 6 months and was just starting to know some cats. I don’t remember where I saw it, but Scooter posted that if you wanted a special Valentine from her to send her your address. So I did. And one of my dearest friendships here on Catster was begun. The Valentine is still on our refrigerator.

Our friendship grew when we had questions about how to do something special on our Catster page and Ray's Mom sent us to Scootie. "She can help," he said. And she did. She and her Mom spent days (and a bit of $) trying to help us get one song we wanted on my page. I knew then that Scooter was a true-blue pal.

Scooter also was a great comfort to us when my big sis Sophie died in Nov. 2007. They were pals from the Olde Furts group. Scootie sent Sophie a heating pad to sleep on that kept her comfortable her last few days.

I found out that one of Scootie's nicknames was Doodle. One of my nicknames is Doodle also. So I started calling Scootie "Scoodle," so we wouldn't confuse each other!

Scoodle sometimes has her voice or her purr playing on her page. I like to hear her purr, but I LOVE hearing her voice. I always get excited and rub against the computer speakers when I hear it. It sounds like she is right there in the room, so I look behind the monitor and around the computer, but I can never find Scoodle!

My Mom went out to Albuquerque in October and got to meet Scooter in person. She said she was sweet and beautiful, just like she is on Catster. Scooter’s Dad gave us some special pictures of her that we will always cherish.

Scoodle … Mom and I love you and your parents so much. We are so sad that you had to leave us, but we will always remember your sweet face and your cute voice. We thank your Mom and Dad for sharing you with us for the past 3 years. We will never forget you, sweet girl!

Your friends forever

Dear Scooter

What can we say about our dear friend Scooter that hasn't been said already? We met Scooter a couple of years ago in Olde Furts and she quickly endeared our hearts. She reminded our Mommy of the Meezer she grew up with named SueLynn sort of like Scooter's Sisfur SooLing, so she knew all about that big loving meow. We loved reading Scooter's diary, looking at her beautiful photos and Birthday videos, and all her fun adventures in her yard. She was always so friendly and wise and we miss her so much. Thanks to her loving Mom & Dad for sharing her with us. Scooter, you will always be in our hearts.

Love Always;

Tribute from Maxwell

Scooter was beautiful inside and out. Those lovely blue eyes! She always thought of others, she made us laugh, and shared our tears when we lost a friend. When I first joined Olde Furts, she made me feel welcome from the start. I remember how much fun we had trying to bribe her when we had Furt of the Day! Scootie, I can't think of a sweeter kitty and I am honored to call you friend.

To Scooter --

With Love From Mea – Angel:

My family was fairly new to the Catster community when you invited me and my sister Mikki to join Olde Furts on November 3, 2008. You welcomed us both into the group with open paws. Since I was already pretty sick at the time, Mikki and I did not pawticipate in the group as much as we would have liked. My family did however learn what a special kitty you are, so loving, caring, and generous on Earth and at the Bridge -- A True Furiend To Sooooo Many!!!

Each time I was sick you sent me words of encouragement. This truly helped Mom and Dad to make it though those last three months before I crossed to the Bridge. In January, when my endoscopy went so wrong, you got the word out to all the Olde Furts that I needed purrs and they came. When I crossed to the Bridge the next day, the words of encouragement that had been pouring in changed to words of sympathy and just kept coming. Mom and Dad cried when they read each message but each and every one of those messages helped them to make it through that trying time. My Mom and Dad; sister and brothers; and I will cherish your furiendship always.

You made your journey to the Bridge shortly after me and I was one of the oh-so-many angels waiting to meet you when you arrived. It was such a sad day for those you left behind. Earth had lost such a special kitty and the Bridge had gained a very beautiful angel.

With Love From Mikki:

Thank you for inviting me and my sister Mea to become members of Olde Furts. It has truly been a wonderful experience! We saw first hand how very S-P-E-C-I-A-L you are. Always giving of yourself to make others feel special. It is kitties like you that have made Catster into such a wonderful site.

With Love From Miko, Milo, and Mimu:

We want to thank you for befriending our family. We are not yet old enough to be members of Olde Furts but we love listening to our sisters tell us about their group. We have come to know you through their stories and your kindness and generosity to our sister Mea. You are truly a One-In-A-Million Kitty!!!!

With Love From the Whole Family:

Please know that you will be greatly missed but not be forgotten. Your memory will live on in your pawrents, your furiends, and within the Catster community. May your days at the Bridge are filled with lots and lots of lizards, catnip, and sun.

My Tribute to Scooter

Scooter never missed a birthday or special occasion. And Scooter is the heart and soul of Olde Furts. That's a ginormous job but Scootie made the group work for everyone. I've enjoyed reading her diaries too! Advanced age just made her more determined to stay with her loved ones. Scoots, you have my respect and admiration for all our lives!

Dearest Scooter ~

I will think of you as I look up to the stars ..Your bright, beautiful light shining down on us from Heaven above ..

You will always be in our hearts. We love you!

Scooter is my heroine!

Scooter looked like a pedigree diva princess but had a heart of gold and was nice and kind to all us new furts. She welcomed us and showed us the ropes and gaves lots of great advice. I loved the pictures and videos of Scooter enjoying her garden and sitting with the pretty blue flowers. When my 1st mum got sick I was neglected for a while and nearly got euthanised but now I'm happy and loved again with my new mum. I hope I live as long as Scooter and age as gracefully as she did!

For the love of Scooter

The first time I saw Scooter, I finally understood why once upon a time we kitties were worshiped.
Compared to this ordinary stripey boy she is an exotic creature; sleek, graceful; oh so beautiful with the most soulful eyes.
When I got to know her I realized that she is sweet, generous kind
as beautiful inside as she is out.
I am proud to call her my friend.
To have been accepted at 4 years of age and to be made the mascot of Olde Furts is one of the highlights of my catster life and I have to thank Scootie for that.
I love you sweet Scootie, I always will.

For Scootie's mom:

You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that
she will come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all
the memories that she left.
Your heart can be empty because you
cannot see her,
Or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and
live for yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because
of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that is gone,
Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can do what she would want : smile, open your eyes,
love and go on.

Love always

We love you, Scooter

Scooter, I just wanted to stop by and add something to this wonderful tribute. You were such an amazing inspiration to all of us. Your kindness and compassion were unmatched. There was always a word of encouragement for any who needed it. And, sound advice where it was needed. When I first started to come into Olde Furts, you were so welcoming and warm. And, it was your idea to take the Breakfast Club and start a thread for it. Little did we both know how it would take off. Or how much it would come to mean to so many furts. We miss you very much. But, we know that you're up there with Simon and the rest of the gang, and that we'll meet again one day. We love you, Scooter, and always will.
Love,

Scooter: cherished furriend and inspiration to all

It is furry difficult to express how special Scooter was to us... I know she touched many with her meowvelous purrsonality. And we know this is mostly because of her loving and caring mommy. We always felt special when we received a pmail or rosette from her, and she treated every fur this way because to her we are all special, she cared about us all as much as we cared about her.

Scooter always made time fur you, she was caring, supportive and generous to all furs. She never missed our birthdays, a diary entry, or a need for purrs. She was always there with words of encouragements, advice and support. She showed compassion, furriendship and respect to all...we can all learn from her.

We thank her pawrents for sharing her with us, we have loved her stories, her meows and her purrs. She was a meezer angel on earth for 20 years, and now she is an angel shinning bright at the rainbow bridge.
Scooter, you will forever be loved and forever special to us.

Dearest Scooter

Although we didn’t know her as well as others did, we consider her our friend. Always kind to everyone. Her knowledge helpful to all. She is in our hearts, forever, too. Our purr prayers to Scooter’s Mom and Dad with a little poem we found:

A NOTE FROM THE BRIDGE
If I could write from The Bridge,
this is what I’d say,
Please don’t miss me too much,
I’m with you throughout your day.
You may not see or hear me,
but if you’re quiet and still,
You may just feel my presence;
for at The Bridge there is free will.
Don’t worry for the day,
it will come and go as planned,
Enjoy each moment you are given,
keep worry from your hand.
Keep sorrow to a minimum;
For if The Bridge you could see,
You’d know I’m safe and happy,
I did not cease to be.
Moments in time are brief,
until we’ll be together again,
as Eternity lasts forever,
our lives, they have no end.

Purrs and Love from

My Pal Pootin' Scootie

I looked up to Scootie. She was so ladylike. Except when it came to her poops.
Now everyone poops. We know that. We read it in a book. But for Scooter, pooping was...well, a worthy field of study. My Mom got frequent “poop reports” from Scooter’s Mom by email.

As the head of Homeland Security, I felt that it was up to me to make an poop advisory alert box for Scooter’s page. After all, anycat who was producing that much methane needed to be watched! I think I embarrassed her. The “Poop Chart” went on her page, then disappeared. That’s why I am bringing it back for all to see:

The fact of the matter is, Scooter’s Mom had her own poop chart. My Mom got to see it when she visited Scooter in Albuquerque for her 20th birthday party.

Please note that also on the chart is an entry stating that Scooter HISSED at my Mom. Now that’s something I admire her for. Who the hell did Mom think she was sitting on Scooter’s sofa?

No, Scooter was NOT a complete goody-goody. She was a tough gal.
And a wonderful friend. She always stuck up for me. I loved her dearly and will miss her always.

Coco

PS
This is my Scooter impersonation. Imagine you can hear little snores that sound like poots.

Scooter the Artiste

Many of you know Scooter as the doyenne of Olde Furts, so it may come as a delightful surprise to discover that Scootie was also an accomplished artist whose Earthworks, prized among Albuquerque/Santa Fe cognoscenti, were a marvelous acquisition for my gallery "Mouseworks" when I launched it back in the Spring of 2006.

For those of you who were unable to attend the gala opening, let me present for your delectation, Scooter’s original masterpiece in four parts, Backyard Quadtych.

Panel One: Scooter Can U Diggit?
Here Scooter embarks on her faux archeological expedition in her backyard, quite near the site where she walks her path (of righteousness.)

Panel Two: Aztec 2-Step
Scooter discovers buried treasure.

Panel Three: A- maize-ing Grace
An ancient corn mosaic, or leftovers from July 4 bbq?

Panel Four: Heist!
The mosaic is gone. Was this an art heist....or a dream?

Whatever it was, the backyard Earth Series cemented Scooter's reputation as one of Mouseworks’ most exciting new artists, one of the Southwest’s most original felines, and one of Catster’s enduring treasures.

I love you Scootie!
Mouse

PS
I’m sorry I puked on the blanket you gave me.
